Being an avid traveler, I have come across many places, across the globe, where you find the real peace of mind. Hawaii is one of the few places where you find peace and joy combined. You get nature and modern world melting at one point without conflict.
Hawaii – the word itself brings in the colorful romantic and enchanting sense of joy and beauty. So planning a trip to Hawaii itself is a joyful process. Your joy begins before even you visit this place.
Hawaii, which is a group of islands, is America’s own paradise. Each island has something unique to offer. It is one of the best tropical escapes for a person like me.
This is a great place for honeymooners. It gives you a complete peace of mind thus allowing you to know each other in the best possible way. You will find the joy of bonding with each other and with nature and these memories will stay there for life. When you connect with each other on a gorgeous beach, this connection will remain there in both of yours memories as a blissful memory.
Waikiki beach station is the place where I started and then everything fell in line automatically. I had a friend with me who had been to Hawaii many times before. Being a biologist she loves this place. There is always something to discover.
Hawaii offers a bundled package for anyone. Hawaii’s varied natural scenery, warm tropic climate, plenty of public beaches, oceanic environment, monstrous waterfalls and active volcanoes make it a popular place to go for tourists, surfers, biologists and volcanologists.
Culture of the native Hawaiians
It is located almost at the center of the Pacific and saw huge labor migration during the nineteenth century. Thus you can see a strong influence of North American and Asian culture. The place has its own rich Hawaiian culture. Thus the blend of all three cultures makes it an attractive destination for tourists all over the world. Hawaii itself is a romantic idea for many across the globe.
With almost a million residents this place is thriving with all sorts of activities you can ever witness in any city around the world. But, that is the beauty of Hawaii. It also presents the untouched natural beauty to explore. So you get the luxury of the best hotels along with the adventurous hills, volcanos, jungles and big beautiful beaches. And do not forget the smaller islands that make this beautiful island state.
Accommodation, Food and Transport – My experience
I am not a good spender on hotels while traveling. I easily got a hostel dorm for $32/night. With hotels that I inquired the range was around $80 to $300 per night and different amenities. Let me tell you that in some places hotel amenities might be less and the price higher. This is because there is less tourist foot fall there.
Food is costly because there are fewer food verities grown here. And Hawaii receives tourists from all parts of the world. To keep them satisfied a lot of food is imported. So food is costly. You should keep this in mind while planning the travel. I forgot this part and so had to cut down my spending on shopping.
Transportation between the islands is an important aspect that you cannot neglect while planning a travel to Hawaii. There is just one ferry between the islands of Maui and Lana’i. This is known as Expeditions Maui-Lanai Passenger Ferry. Cost per Adult is $30 and per child is $20. So if you are traveling in a group or with many family members this can be one factor that you cannot miss. There are two more options. One saves time other save money.
Flying is a good option between islands if you are short of time. But, the cost is higher. It is around $65 to $200 and so if you are planning to fly to different islands then you should keep an extra budget for transportation.
If you are in a large group or family then the best option is to rent a car. A small vehicle can be rented for $80 per day. If you want a bigger car it will be between $110 to $150. Taxis charge around $3 to $5 per mile.
Different activities require some additional budget. Like scuba diving cost me additional $200. Surfing might cost you some more. Anyhow, apart from these activities my daily budget with hostel dorm, less spending on food and transport was $70 to $100.
Here are some great places I visited and you will enjoy visiting them too. You can’t miss these six places in Hawaii.
USS Arizona Memorial
Being a history lover Pearl Harbor was my favorite destination. USS Arizona Memorial stands over the remains of the sunken ship. You can get complete historical information from the Visitors Center. It brings to life the memories of the fallen soldiers who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Volcanoes National Park
Located on the Big Island of Hawaii, the Volcanoes National Park provides a distinctive, close up look at an active volcano and the latest Landscape created by the volcano. Hot lava flowing on the mountain side, and the dry lava covers the road, showing its unstoppable strength.
Waikiki, with its beautiful stretch of oceanfront beach, is Hawaii’s biggest attraction for tourist. It is a suburb of Honolulu. It provides all the conveniences and entertainment of a contemporary city. Towards the end of the crescent shaped beach is the extinct volcano known as the Diamond Head Crater, adding a magnificent backdrop to the incredible sun drenched beach.
Waipio Valley, located in the Hamakua District of the Big Island of Hawaii
This is probably the most scenic places. On the big island of Hawaii is your lookout over Waipio Valley. Encompassed by lush cliff walls the fertile valley opens out to the sea, where a black sand beach is met with white waves and blue water. The high view gives an amazing perspective.
Haleakala National Park
Haleakala National Park is on the Hawaiian island of Maui
This is a paradise for nature lovers and geologists alike. It gives you the chance to access to the inactive volcano Haleakala. When you reach the summit of this 10k feet inactive volcano the view stretches across the whole island. Sunrise is the most beautiful natural event that happens every day.
The Maui Ocean Center
The Maui Ocean Center is an aquarium and oceanography center located in Hawaii on the island of Maui
This center gives you a great chance to view what is beneath the ocean. Sea life can be experienced here surrounded by sharks, sting rays, turtles beautiful fishes, corals and flora of all sort. A huge glass tunnel takes you through this magnificent experience.
Mauna Kea, is a dormant volcano on the island of Hawaii
When you are in Hawaii you cannot miss the highest mountain there. Mauna Kea will give you a life-long experience of distinctive signs with this tropical paradise.
But at the end of the visit, I can only say that no other place haunts you back like Hawaii.
